Introducing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

The term CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which idea, in simple words, is replacing one belief with another to switch a negative experience to a positive one. Cognitive therapy has a long and effective proven effect in solving a wide range of mental problems - one of those is phobia. Once Mental Imagery – a classic method for fighting fears and phobias - was created, it immediately became widely spread in CBT nowadays. Recently we have already described this method and discovered the cons of using imagination to fight fears and phobias, which lead our co-founders to the idea of creating the service.

Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is one of the oldest and most sufficient organizations which drive the approach and, what is the most respected, actively search for modern technologies in the mental health industry to adopt them into the activities of specialists all over the world.

In late May, our team was invited to attend the international CBT forum and present the phobia management system to get to know professionals with a brand new virtual reality exposure therapy system invented by PsyTech VR. It was such a pleasure to meet Allen R. Miller, PhD – CBT program director, and in past - a colleague of Dr Aaron T. Beck, which is rightly called the father of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.

The product was presented by Ivan (CEO), Daniil (CPO), Inna (CSO) and Nikolas (CMO), and attracted the attention of hundred visitors, it was unexpected that the audience mainly consisted of psychologists and other doctors, which gave us an opportunity to receive positive feedback from professionals which care of phobia training. Up to 50 specialists have entered the waitlist for the upcoming beta test in order to take part in testing the system to help PsyTech VR prepare for the official launch in late August, this year.
Our team plan to attend various new forums all over the world in the nearest future, stay tuned, and let's make this world better together!
All the specialists approvingly meet the keynote and faced the main surprise of the seminar - the ability to test various phobias levels using the VR headsets. The following virtual fears attracted the most attention from psychologists and specialists:
  • Bridge over the canyon
  • Skyscraper with a view over the city
  • Flying in turbulence
  • Old cave with spiders
  • Dark pedestrian underpass
